『大屠殺是她的故事 Ep0 』 神聖的任務

在3/27我們開了第一次會，全球一共有200多個人申請，外交部只選了22個人，來自世界各地，例如美國、紐西蘭、英國、斯洛伐克、印度、泰國、新加坡和台灣的我，比較特殊的更甚至還有巴基斯坦和摩洛哥的參加者！他們講述著為什麼在他們的國家做大屠殺教育和打擊反猶主義是他們要打的仗。

在短短一分鐘的自我介紹中，我們就已經被其他的參加者鼓勵和感動，大家願意花這些時間，因為真的沒有時間了，每一天都有平均50個大屠殺倖存者離開我們，現在只剩下165000的大屠殺倖存者，若沒有人講述他們的故事，以後就沒有人有機會說這些故事了。

我在希大教大屠殺研究的教授曾分享過說：

所以教授繼續做大屠殺的研究，因為這是一個神聖的呼召，若參加葬禮都已經是一件善事，那更何況是為無法為自己申冤的受害者講述這段歷史。

我們在接下來一年，每個人都會被配對到一位大屠殺倖存者，然後我們會在各自的平台上，用自己擅長的語言和方式，很真實的分享大屠殺的故事、歷史和見證。我剛才剛收到email，我已經知道我的訪問對象是一位叫做Sarah的猶太奶奶，今年86歲，在德國出生。

希望能透過文字，和以色列美角的讀者們，更多分享關於大屠殺歷史的血淚故事，也邀請大家在接下來一年，與我一起來進入到猶太奶奶的大屠殺回憶裡。

I was told about this unique Holocaust storytelling program offered by the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the Israeli embassy in Taiwan. The selected participants will spend a year with a Holocaust survivor to write down their story as a witness of the Holocaust. We will learn about the history and use our influence to share their stories in a language or platform that we choose.

“This is a sacred mission.”

We held our first meeting on 3/27. There were more than 200 applicants from all over the world but the Ministry of Foreign Affairs could only select 20 participants. There were participants from the United States, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Slovakia, India, Thailand, Singapore, and Taiwan (such as myself) and amazingly also from Pakistan and Morocco! They talk about why Holocaust education and fighting anti-Semitism in their country are their battles.

In our one minute of self-introduction, we have been encouraged and moved by other participants. We are willing to spend this time because there is really no time. Each day, an average of 50 Holocaust survivors leave us. There are only 165,000 Holocaust survivors remaining now. If no one tells their stories now, no one will have the opportunity to tell the world in the future.

My professor of Holocaust Studies at the Hebrew University once shared, “What is the best mitzvah or good deed one can do? This is what I learned only later, that is to attend someone’s funeral, and be there for the final mile. ”

We stared at the professor, and she said, “Because you cannot ask for anything back. The deceased cannot pay you back. “

So our professor continues to do her research on the Holocaust because it is a sacred calling. So, if attending a funeral is already a good deed, let alone telling the holocaust story of the survivors and the history of the victims who cannot speak for themselves.

For the following year, each of us will be matched with a Holocaust survivor, and then we will share the stories, history, and testimony of the Holocaust from a very authentic voice on our social media accounts. I just received the email, and I already know who I will be interviewing. Sarah is now an 86-year old Jewish grandmother, and she was born in Germany.
